We value the inherent qualities that call to a church leader—prayerfulness, wisdom, sensitivity, the ability to listen, acceptance, and flexibility.
The new rector will assume the regular liturgical responsibilities along with pastoral care, which will involve home and hospital visits when called for.
This person must be spiritually prepared to meet the needs of a senior congregation.
We would like our new rector to possess the following traits:
When times of conflict or stress arise, he or she will work through any tension or strife in a calm and straightforward manner.
We would like our rector to possess the strategy and perception that will allow him or her to encourage and build on our strengths, while maintaining and monitoring healthy boundaries and balance when it comes to both clergy and lay workload. Along this line, we would also like our leader to promote an equitable division of labor, as people feel more a part of our church when they are involved.
We prefer a voice of assurance behind the pulpit, someone who relates intellectually with the congregation while, at the same time, engages emotionally.
During this tensely divided era we have been successful in keeping the world’s cacophony out of our church. We would like our rector to maintain a place of serenity and safety, where tact is encouraged and telling faith stories feels natural.
As important as all of the above is, our rector, along with the congregation, must not be distracted from our vision and mission, which is be a major Christian presence in the Highland Lakes District proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and to follow Christ through the ministries of worship, education, and service.
